Bartenieff Fundamentals℠ (BF) is a construct created by physiotherapist Irmgard Bartenieff as an extension of Laban Movement Analysis (LMA). BF focuses on movement integration and harmony. It was developed to provide a developmentally-based framework for exploring the experience of the body in motion, with an awareness of how and why it is moving. BF focuses on the support and connectivity of the body to facilitate efficient functional and expressive movement experiences.
In this workshop we will explore the stages of development of the brain and the motor skills that human babies and toddlers progress through on their way to mastering mature movement patterns in order to awaken and enliven these foundational patterns of connectivity that are often not used, used inadequately or misused by adult movers.
The goal of BF and the goal of this workshop is to facilitate a lively interplay of Inner Connectivity with Outer Expressivity with the intention of enriching your movement patterns and your life.
