Grounded Freedom: Inviting Integration through Authentic Movement with Jeannine Salemi LCPC, BC-DMT

Authentic Movement is a simple form of self-directed movement that includes a mover and a witness.  It cultivates a contemplative frame of mind, clarity of perception, and movement that is personally enhancing.

Authentic Movement's original practitioners integrated Carl Jung's concept of active imagination with modern dance movement improvisation.  Since its origin it has been developed as a meditative, spiritual practice that integrates body and mind for increased access to consciousness, as part of the psychotherapy process, bringing unconscious thoughts to awareness, as artistic support, unblocking and opening new ideas as well as in community outreach and development, providing unique ways to address and solve community-wide problems.

Authentic Movement offers a stronger embodied feeling of one’s true self, supporting more freedom to make more conscious choices in one’s life.

Jeannine Salemi has been active as a Dance/Movement Therapist and Counselor for over 10 years, serving adults with brain injuries, adults with developmental disabilities, and adults with mental illness and addiction. She has worked with individuals from a wide variety of cultures, and understands that we all hold stories and beliefs that shape who we are.  Her approach is based on creating genuine interpersonal connection and developing somatic awareness as a way to come into more alignment with our true selves, from which we have more freedom of choice and agency in our lives.

This eight hour introductory workshop will be offered at Heart, Body and Soul in Columbia, MO on Saturday, February 24 from 10 - 5 with a lunch break and Sunday, February 25 from 1 - 4
